Plants are at the core of my flower essence studies 🌿

Plants are at the core of my flower essence studies 🌿

A Story from Ruth

When I first started reading about and using flower essences, I was fascinated by the human patterns depicted in the essence descriptions.

In each description, I could see people I knew, and it was amazing to know there were ways to address these issues with the help of the flowers.

It was a lot of information, and I longed to go deeper to truly grasp it. With my heart and soul, I wanted to learn more, and nothing would stop me!

The study of plants was a game-changer 🌿

This passion led to the very best way to learn and embody the knowledge of flower essences — the study of the actual plants. Learning about the essence patterns identified by researchers was one thing, but the study of plants and their botanical family features was what changed things for me.

Prior to that, it was harder to know when to use one essence vs. another. For example, for issues of sadness, discouragement, or fear, when would I use Mustard, or Gorse, or Gentian?

It was only when I learned about the gesture and expression of each plant that this became much easier to grasp and to finally embody as an alive knowledge.

When I sat very close to a Gorse plant, and saw the poor soil in which it grew and the fierceness of its resilience, I understood more about this essence than ever before. Over time, seeing its exuberant flowering during Easter, sensing its subtle aroma, helped me to viscerally know its intrinsic healing power.

This work truly came alive in my heart and soul, as each plant became a living being that I could visualize — growing in the landscapes where they thrive and in relationship to their whole environment.

Each plant in its archetypal expression became part of my inner landscape.

Through these studies, I was shown the Rosaceae qualities both in the Wild Rose as well as in Blackberry. The strong rootedness and the vigorous stalks eventually metamorphose into delicate and aromatic flowers.

After learning that Agrimony was also in the same botanical family, I was able to feel the union of sensitivity with strength, so one can fully open to integrate deeper feelings that can at times be heavy and uncomfortable. All of this was deeply revealing, in simple and natural ways.

This approach of plant observation has been, for me, a path that brings it all to life and brings it all together.

It's my passion for this embodied knowledge that I'm enthusiastically inspired to pass on to you.

If you're on the path to deepen your knowledge of flower essences, I invite you to join Kathleen and I for this Botanical Families series.

Delving deep into organizing our plant allies with their botanical families and being taught about their interconnectedness through story and pictures made it all come together in such a way that I could truly remember all of the information with all my senses.

🌿 Botanical Families begins May 22

Our exploration of Botanical Families in Flower Essence Therapy continues with Part Three of the series — but it's not necessary to take these in order. However, this course is best suited for intermediate and advanced students.

We’ll be focusing on additional families that are vital to our practices, like the Olive/Lilac family, the Nightshades, the Cacti, the Mallows, and more.

We hope you join us for this epic virtual field trip into the botanical framework that guides Flower Essence Therapy.

Professional Practice Mentoring Group

Dear Reader, As the three of us (Ruth, Kathleen, and Rochana) have been working on our individual businesses over the years, we've participated in group coaching, masterminds, communities of practice, women's circles, and the list goes on. Nothing existed specifically for flower essence practitioners, so we had to make do with what we could find. Some groups were more valuable than others, and with the not-so-great experiences we learned what we didn't like: ❌ Traditional marketing advice...
